Travel around on a budget – 10 Tips to help you do so

You might be under the impression that travel essentially means spending loads of money. However, that’s not always the case. If you’re looking to travel by spending less, then it’s very much possible.

10 Effective tips for travelling on a budget

Here are 10 effective tips you could follow and literally travel around the world on a good budget -

1. Off seasons are pocket friendly: When traveling on a budget, then the off seasons could truly turn out to be your “on seasons”. Specific destinations can be so much cheaper during summer or winter when there’s no rush.

2. Search for cost effective destinations: When travelling anywhere, finding cheap lodging and less expensive food can do miracles for your finances.

3. Look for alternative lodging: Searching for a place to rest doesn’t necessarily have to include expensive hotels. With time the concept of travel lodging is also evolving and it’s time you looked for alternative places.

4. Don’t ignore coupon codes: When paying for online travel, you might’ve come across promotional code boxes. If you haven’t yet, then it’s time to take a closer look. There are particular websites which give you the opportunity to fill those boxes and save big time on flights, hotels, rental cars, etc.

5. Negotiation does pay off: Pick up your phone and make the best use of your negotiation skills for the purpose of booking your lodging, rental cars, etc. Most claim to post their best rates online, but calling and negotiating can actually save you more than you could imagine.

6. Go for a membership: Member websites offering great deals on travel are a good idea indeed.

7. Try being different: You could save a lot by deciding for yourself where you want to go, which flight you’d like, etc. Aping others would be unnecessarily expensive.

8. Timing is everything again: When buying plane tickets online, there’s an ideal time when it comes really really cheap. Do it then!

9. Social networking does help: If you follow the major airlines and ticketing websites through social media, then you could find out sooner about promotional offers or sales and grab them immediately.

10. Ask for refund if needed: If you notice that a plane ticket you purchased has gone down on price, or the car rental has decreased, then pick up the phone straight away and ask for a refund.

With the help of the above tips, traveling on a budget shouldn’t be that difficult after all.

Shop around for decent exchange rates too. Many just go to their bank, or post office to get their currency but it pays off to explore all options – rate compare sites etc can be a good way of getting more from your budget. After all every little helps!
