Our Sun in HD by NASA

Five years ago, NASA has launched a very sophisticated webcam into space and aimed it at the sun. This space probe or satellite was launched on February 11, 2010 and is called the “Solar Dynamics Observatory” or SDO. The SDO is part of the “Living With a Star” (LWS) program and helps to study the Sun-Earth system. Since its launch in 2010, the SDO has made some very fine pictures of the boiler of our galaxy and NASA has been kind enough to share these images.

Our Sun is Fascinating

The SDO enables us to see our sun in detail. Fountains and whirlpools made from fire and plasma. It is so fascinating and such a wonderful idea that this scorching ball of concentrated heat is the source of all life on our beautiful planet. The Sun is the reason is why we think, why flowers grow, why birds sing and why we can shed a tear in awe of its beauty. So ok, we may have gotten a bit emotional after having watched the following film, but just see for yourself…

BTW Sun, you rule! And NASA, you also reign supreme with your wonderful technologies and compulsive neurotic tendencies to share all its beauty with us. <3!
